Profile

Dr Tony Shome was born and raised in Singapore and has lived in New Zealand since 1982. He comes from an engineering background in shipbuilding and petroleum industries. He held management positions in multinational companies which had taken him to countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Iran, Japan,  China, Hong Kong, USA, Canada, Europe, and South America. He comes to Massey University with extensive international business experience and proposes a hands-on approach to the study of International Business incorporating the many different skills and cultural experiences he hopes to share with his students. His research interests are in the political economy of international relations, the economic and political history of Southeast Asia, and leadership.
